Hi, I'm Rosie...

I graduated with a first class (hons) degree in Humanistic Counselling Practice from the University of Nottingham.

During my studies I offered person-centred art and play counselling to young people at a local secondary school and completed a placement with an organisation which offers counselling to adults over the telephone and online

I take part in supervision and I am fully accredited by the National Counselling Society (NCS).

The Humanistic Approach to Counselling...

Whenever I think about the humanistic approach to counselling, an image of a tree comes to mind.  The 'roots' of humanism sit beneath a 'landscape' of philosophies about human potential which are positioned in the 'earth' of existentialism. In the core of its 'trunk' is an environment which nurtures personal growth and fulfilment by supporting the right conditions for change. The 'branches' represent the belief that humans are capable of flourishing through an innate ability to resolve difficulties and realise potential.

I will endeavour to help you understand and grow your own 'branches' by working with you in a relational way. This means creating a good therapeutic relationship which helps you to develop a deeper understanding of yourself. This will be offered in a safe environment where you can engage in self-exploration by talking about your thoughts, feelings and experiences. I will uphold a non-judgemental attitude towards you and your experiences, so you can feel safe and comfortable to talk about things you might not feel able to share with other people.

My approach is also grounded in the principals of the 'personal growth model', which places value on non-directive forms of therapy. This means your counselling session is guided by you and the content, pace and direction of the sessions are self-led. Together, we will empower you to use your strengths and promote your self-esteem and authenticity, while being mindful about your goals and progress.
